GAS PERMIT

A Gas Permit is needed, for all new piping that services any gas appliance or fixture, extending the pipes that exist, or installing or replacing any gas appliances.
• Generators • Space heaters • Gas logs, fireplaces • Gas meter relocations • Pool and hot tub heaters • Commercial fryers, grills, ovens, ranges • Boilers, furnaces, gas pack units and water heaters • Conversion from propane to Natural Gas or Natural Gas to propane
The exceptions may be residential gas dryers, grills, ovens and ranges. Gas piping to these appliances, however, always requires a permit. All gas piping must be pressure tested with compressed air and a test gauge able to be reasonably read. Time of test and amount of pressure must be posted near gauge so inspector can confirm that system is air tight. Gas piping must be identified. The inspections are:
A. Rough-in Inspection: To be made after all piping is in place and pressure applied.
B. Final Inspection: To be made after all connections and appliance are installed and meter has been set.
