Hauppauge, NY (PRWEB) April 30, 2013
Active Web Group (AWG), a full-service Internet Marketing firm located in Hauppauge, NY, announces that it has launched a website redesign for the renowned Long Island Science and Engineering Fair (LISEF), Inc., an affiliate of the Intel International Science & Engineering Fair. For over 27 years LISEF has promoted excellence in scientific inquiry and discovery throughout the Long Island schools system. Their powerful website redesign now efficiently handles every facet of the competition’s life cycle from registration and project assignment through scientific review, judging, scoring and announcing the winners.
Every year LISEF holds two days of competition between outstanding local science students who compete for scholarships and a coveted opportunity to further their scientific inquiry at the prestigious Intel ISEF fair, held this year in Phoenix, Arizona. Projects are registered, assigned, evaluated and judged by volunteer industry professionals on a system requiring sophistication in its design and execution. When LISEF engaged Active Web Group to replace its outmoded web presence, the new site had to be completely redesigned from the ground up. Especially important were all aspects of the admin console and the site’s back end. Weeks of intensive planning followed by months of execution, testing and retesting followed. Inaugurated for the 2013 LISEF Fair, the new site performed well and is expected to carry LISEF’s endeavors capably into the future.
“LISEF offers a tremendous opportunity for area students to springboard into international competition at Intel ISEF” states LISEF, Inc. board member, Elaine Labrocca, “At ISEF, our LISEF winners mingle with Nobel Laureates and meet the brightest student scientists from all over the world. Finalists present their work to over 1,000 judges. Historically, LISEF students have a stellar track record with 60%-75% winning at least one ISEF award. Most years there is also been at least one or more Best in Category winner,” Labrocca notes. “The role LISEF plays is key to their high achievement at the international fair and a great tribute to the tireless efforts of the volunteer judges, staff and board members who work year ‘round to make our fair a success,” she concludes.
“Creating LISEF’s website redesign with its dynamic and visually exciting public front end and its intricate and highly detailed back end matrix has been an especially meaningful business collaboration,” states Patrick Norton, Vice President and Director of Business Development, Active Web Group, Inc. “We are proud to have been an integral part of LISEF’s current and future initiatives, on behalf of the region’s student scientists,” Norton concludes.

LI Science and Engineering Fair, Inc., a 501c3 corporation, promotes three science research fairs that are extremely successful and highly professional events. Since 2005, the number of schools participating in the Charles Duggan LISEF fair for high school students, named for their founder, increased from 50 to 74 participating schools. Mr. Duggan’s vision had been to reach 100 participating schools; in the near future LISEF hopes to reach that goal. The JV Fair, organized in 2011, grew from a proposal fair that in 2010 had 27 projects. By its third year the JV Fair’s numbers jumped to 108 projects. The Middle School Fair is undergoing reorganization after gaining a new national sponsor. It is their hope that the Broadcom-Masters Middle School Competition will spur resurgence in their middle school fair.
Each year, LISEF, Inc. incurs two major expenses, the cost of sponsoring three fairs over two days and sponsoring up to 20 LISEF projects to the International Science & Engineering Fair each May. The Intel ISEF brings together over 1,500 students from 70 nations to compete for scholarships, tuition grants, internships, scientific field trips and the grand prize: a $75,000 college scholarship.
