Plastic Outdoor Sheds

EASY JUST GOT EVEN EASIER!

Plastic outdoor sheds may be the way to go if you need some storage space you can put up in a hurry. Today there are storage shed kits manufactured by Rubbermaid and other companies, which can be found at the Home Depot, Lowes, and other home improvement stores. These are tough, no maintenance, lockable storage units that blend into the scenery, sort of. Rubbermaid can only be found at the Home Depot, but there are several other manufacturers.

This, however, may not be your choice if you must have eco-friendly products, as these plastic sheds are, well, plastic. But more and more doghouses, bird feeders and other outdoor products are being manufactured using recycled plastics and other materials. And, when you think about it, these plastic outdoor sheds will last for many, many years.

And, when it comes time to upgrade, it can be recycled. Of course, before deciding this is the best option for your needs and making the purchase, it’s always in your best interest to consider the pros and cons.

PROS:

There are a variety of positive aspects that come with choosing plastic outdoor sheds over some of the other options available today. One of the big benefits is the durability of plastic. You don’t have to worry about dents or chips, which can occur with other types. Warping and rotting will not be a problem and you will not have to worry about the rust that can happen to metal sheds.

Another pro to choosing plastic outdoor sheds is that they require little, if any, maintenance. Plastic is UV resistant and there is no need to worry about termite problems. You’ll also find that these plastic storage shed kitsare reasonably priced and they are much cheaper than metal or wood options. The kits make installation a breeze and allow for shelving, the addition of skylights, windows, or even extensions if you need more room.

CONS:

While there are many great things you’ll enjoy with plastic outdoor sheds, there are a couple of cons you need to consider before making your final decision. One of the main problems is that these sheds are very lightweight. If you don’t secure them and you live in an area that gets storms with strong winds, there’s the possibility that they will get blown over! The last thing you want is to watch your investment blow away.

Plastic will never give you the same beautiful look that wood or even painted vinyl will. Depending on the construction of your home, plastic sheds may look a bit out of place. Of course there are several ways to blend into the landscaping, and placing your plastic shed in an inconspicuous place may eliminate this concern.

Preassembled Options and Their Advantages

While do-it-yourselfers may prefer the plasticstorage shed kits they can assemble and set up on their own, if you aren’t handy with screwdriver or you don’t have the time to even put together a kit, pre-assembled plastic outdoor sheds may be a better option for you. These save a lot of time, since they are delivered to your site already assembled. Just make sure the site is cleared and level prior to delivery (a job that can be hired out, as well). If DIY manuals confuse you, this may be the better choice. They have all the great benefits of regular plastic sheds, but without the time and effort.

Having a nice sturdy shed next to your garden – to store tools, landscaping and gardening equipment, and other items – is a great idea. And you have many options available today, including wood, metal, and of course, plastic. If you are looking for an easy DIY project, these simple kits are it. Plastic is the most reasonably priced consideration, and for many people they provide an excellent storage option. Search plastic shedusing the Bing Custom Search Box over there on the right!.
