Lots of people grew up surrounded by Traditional decorating style furniture and arrangements. Comfortable yet classic. A Traditional home contains few surprises. There is nothing out of place or of a different decoratingstyle and everything has a look that goes together. Some things may look outdated, especially the furniture, which is comfortable and placed exactlywhere it needs to go.
Furniture and accessories are placed in pairs and centered in the room. Horizontal lines are used to offset verticals. Furniture could be florals, plain colors, muted plaids, soft stripes, and small overall patterns. There’s a serenity about traditional style decorating.
If there is a statement, its homey and easy. Some traditional homes are alittle eclectic, in that they may include antiques, new things and even simple, almost modern shapes. As long as the room looks like its supposed to be this way it’s just fine.

Window treatments are classic with narrow shutters, traverse draperies, pleated sheers and valances. Traditional style dining rooms will have a variety of china, glassware, and silver. Plates might be a classic gold-rimmed style or a simple floral. Either beautiful tablecloths or attractive fabric placemats and napkins. Sometimes wainscot or a chair rail.
