I am a first time home buyer and have been told to look for homeowners insurance. What do I need to tell insurance companies, and what should i not have to tell them. For example, would it be a bad idea to send them a copy of the home inspection report? Probably, but I am clueless. I want the most coverage for the best price.
Additionally, how much should I expect to pay in insurance for a home that cost $750,000 in Rancho Palos Verdes, CA? Will I be required to come up with a big lump sum, and then make payments?
How much of an upfront cost $$$?
Shop around, give them what they ask for and like shopping for anything, get the best deal you can. And yes, you will have to come up with the cost upfront. From there on in, you make payments into an escrow account and your mortgage service company will handle everything after that.
