Employers want to ensure that their businesses run smoothly and that customers will be satisfied with the services they receive. In order to do this, employers need to monitor the success of their workers and offer constructive criticism as well as suggestions for improvement. When this happens, employees will know what their weaknesses are and strive to do better at work.
An important part of an employee review is how well the employee has been doing in the area of customer service. You want to include what you find are both weaknesses and strengths and why. You may like how the employee takes extra time with the customers even when the problem is difficult, but you’re concerned about the rudeness he or she shows towards customers sometimes.
Adherence to Job Description
You also want to write in the review how well the employee is performing his or her specific duties based on the job description. If the employee is responsible for going to the back of the store to get items, restock the shelves and rotate items with older expiration dates and you’re impressed with the performance, state it in the review.
Because employees should work together and put aside differences to complete the task, you also want to evaluate the employee’s interpersonal skills. If you’ve noticed how the employee will not pull his or her weight at work and leave the task for other workers, mention your disapproval of this action.
Suggestions for Improvement
Since you want to help the individual become a better employee, it’s important to include some suggestions for improvement. If the employee has been careless with large supplies in the store, you can show him or her better ways to transport and place them on the shelves. Also suggest that the individual get help from other workers when neccessary.
When writing employee reviews, you want to be fair as possible. You can do this by observing the employees’ work performances over a period of time and taking notes of specific actions that are not in compliance with company rules. Also offer employees the chance to give their feedback after meeting with them.
